The Visual Arts Bootcamp helps passionate artists further develop their artistic talents and hone their craft. Students will study chiaroscuro and color theory, working with a variety of media such as pencil/charcoal and acrylic. The program theme will rotate between Animal Drawing (Ses. 1) and En Plein Air (Ses. 2). This bootcamp will culminate in a session-end art exhibit on campus.
En Plein Air captivates with its immediate connection to nature, capturing spontaneous moments and the ever-changing environment. The technique celebrates light, color, and atmosphere, offering a unique and immersive artistic experience.

Course Overview
Throughout the three weeks course, we’ll provide each student with the experience and understanding for organizing the complexities of San Francisco cityscape into insightful compositions. We’ll focus on grabbing the view of light and atmosphere through location study.
In this class, we’ll cover:
Setting up a sketching kit for plein air
Finding a simple statement within the complexities of the cityscape.
Learning basic composition
Learning linear perspective and atmospheric perspective.
Creating the illusion of depth and space
Learning basic of color theory
Materials: Sketchbook; Pencil; Pen; Watercolor sketchbook; Watercolor paint; Watercolor brush; White gouache paint.
